Do’s and don’ts when applying
Do
- Check the exact location rule. The listing must clearly allow applicants from the Philippines. Remote does not always mean worldwide.
- Open the original employer page. Apply through the company’s official careers page or applicant-tracking system whenever possible.
- Research the company and recruiter. Check the company name, website, email domain, public presence, and the person contacting you.
- Save the important details. Keep a copy of the job description, pay, work schedule, responsibilities, application date, and contact information.
- Apply with honest proof. Tailor your resume and portfolio to the role without inventing skills, results, clients, or experience.
- Protect your personal information. Share only what is necessary after you have verified the employer and application route.
Don’t
- Do not assume a listing is safe because it appears on a familiar platform. Verify the employer and the exact opening.
- Do not send money to a recruiter or client to secure a job. Do not send cryptocurrency, gift cards, or a placement payment.
- Do not share passwords, one-time codes, or full banking credentials. A legitimate employer does not need them during an application.
- Do not buy equipment from a seller chosen by a recruiter. Do not accept a cheque and send part of the money back.
- Do not complete a large unpaid test that looks like usable client work. Ask about the scope, time limit, and how the test will be used.
- Do not fake experience. Start with honest proof that you can explain and defend.
Helpful guides before you apply
- How to Get Experience When No One Hires You: Build honest portfolio proof before you send applications.
- Fake It Till You Make It. No.: Present your skills truthfully instead of promising work you cannot deliver.
- Three Ways to Make a Client Trust You: Prepare for interviews by focusing on care, clarity, conviction, and truthful competence.
A simple way to use this resource
Do not open every link at once.
Choose three places from different groups:
- One Philippines-focused platform or staffing company.
- One broad remote-job board.
- One specialist site for your strongest skill.
Search the same job title on all three. Save only roles that clearly accept applicants from the Philippines. Then open the employer’s original page before applying.
