The Day My Spine Acted Abnormally
My spine decided to act abnormally for two days. Severe nerve pain, helplessness, prayers, and a small reminder that Christ meets us even when all we can do is wait.
For two days, my spine decided to act abnormally.
Severe nerve pain went down my left leg. I could not stand. I could not walk.
I was in bed.
And if I am being honest, helplessness is hard.
“You are useless today.”
“You cannot even stand.”
“You are a loser.”
Some days you feel like you can rule the world. Some days you feel like a loser.
That is normal, but it is not the whole truth.
Today the pain is not as bad. I am thankful and happy.
If you are in bed today, and there is nothing to do but wait to get better, I have been there.
Receive the love of the people around you while you are helpless. Do not be ashamed that you need help.
Christ did not only meet strong people. He came near to the weak. He carried people who could not carry themselves.
That is a good reminder for my heart.
My worth is not measured by how much I can finish today. My life is still held by God when my body cannot cooperate.
Tomorrow, or the day after, you will be out there again. And when you are, you will have even more genuine love for the people who stayed near you.
I want to share this.
If our world has different seasons, it is okay if sometimes you cannot get up. Because of the rain, the trees bear more fruit. Your tears carry a deep meaning.
Thank you for the prayers.
I will see you when I can.
